Band Bookings / Battle of the Bands

9Lives has partnered with Tool Shed Studio and Guitar Center to discover the best bands and bring them to you.

Starting January 26th 9Lives is presenting our second Battle of the Bands.  This is a multi-week elimination competition with one band winning a Grand Prize that includes $500 cash, recording time at Tool Shed Studio, musical gear from Guitar Center and a place on the 9Lives Wall of Names!  Here are the details:

When:

First Round:     June 21 - June 28 - July 12
(24 bands)         July 19 – July 26 – August 2

Semi-Finals:    August 17 and 24

(6 bands)

Finals:             September 15
(3 bands)

How it works:

Each week four bands will compete for a spot in our semi-finals.  First round bands will perform a 25 minute set with the performance order selected by a blind draw the night of the show.  Each week one band will be selected by our judges based on their overall performance to advance to the semi-finals with the winning band from each week announced on the 9Lives homepage the day after each first round competition.  

Six first round winners will return to perform in the two semi-final shows where each night three bands will perform a 45 minute set.  Two bands will advance to the finals along with highest scoring non-winnering semi-finalist where they will comepete for the overall win.  This years finals will be held on Saturday, April 21st.   

Judging:

Bands are judged by a panel of industry professionals on the following criteria:

10% = Marketing/Promotional effort
40% = Music/Songwriting
20% = Crowd Draw/Tickets Collected
20% = Overall Professionalism
10% = Crowd Response

Cost:

There is NO ENTRY FEE to enter your band.  9Lives doesn't believe in charging bands to perform at our venue.  Never have . . . never will.

9Lives is always looking for bands. Here is how to get your band on our stage.

9Lives is always looking for bands. Here is how to get your band on our stage. You only get one chance to make a BIG impression so we want to hear AND see your band before we book you. Keep in mind that we are usually booked 3 months in advance. 
Bands should email their promo kits to bookings@ninelivesclub.com. Promo kits should include photos, demo of your music and live performance footage.  What else should you include?  A stage plot and input list. If you want to snail mail your promo kit that is acceptable also.

Remember, we get lots of requests to perform on our stage so please be patient.  If we think you are a fit for 9Lives we will get in touch with you.

What We Book

We book original material bands that perform live music.  This means you actually play instruments and don't perform to playback tracks. 

Rock - Blues - Reggae - Ska - Americana - Jazz - Latin Country - Rock-a-billy - Acoustic - Funk . . . the list goes on and on.  We occaisionally book cover bands too. 

What We Don't Book

9Lives is primarily a rock and blues venue with some reggae and country on occaision.  We do not book Hip Hop, Rap or DJ artists. 


Other Important Things to Know

Bands retain 100% of their merch sales so bring your CD’s, t-shirts and other stuff. 

We promote and market all our shows but you know who your fans are and how to get them to your gig.  If you get lots of fans to turn out for your show you win, your fans win and more people get to see you perform and that gets you future gigs at 9Lives.
